Wood Impregnation Varnish - Protection of wooden surfaces

What Is Wood Impregnation Varnish?

Wood impregnation varnish is used to preserve wooden surfaces in their original condition. In short, when you use it on wooden surfaces, you keep them smooth and shiny, as if you bought them for the first time.

Impregnation varnish is essentially dissolved resins and oils in a solvent which is a volatile substance. Volatile substances are substances which evaporate immediately in contact with air. A typical example of a volatile substance is ethyl alcohol, or otherwise alcohol.

In wood varnish, a volatile substance is used as a solvent for the following reason: From the moment you apply the varnish to the wooden surface you want, the volatile substance-solvent comes into contact with the air and evaporates. This is how the oil or resin adheres to the surface as a dissolved substance, which with their unique properties help to maintain the wooden surface.

What Properties Does Wood Impregnation Varnish Have?

The main properties that characterize the active substances (oils, resins) in an impregnation varnish are that they protect wooden surfaces from the corrosive effect of light, air and time.

The active substances in a wood varnish create a protective film around the surface and protect it from
oxidations. In this way, they keep the wooden surfaces smooth and shiny.
