Which one is the best: Wood Impregnation Varnish or Preservative (Exterior Use) The right product for your wood can make a big difference in the longevity of the wood, whether it's wood windows, doors or wood decking. It can also make a significant difference to future maintenance and a wrong or inferior product used as a short term saver can end up costing a lot more in the long run.
There are two main products for external use with many different sub-products under them. However, the most basic is either wood impregnation varnish which tends to form a coating over the wood, or a preservative, which penetrates and nourishes the wood and basically sits inside the wood.
The varnishes they often form a hard protective coating that cannot contract and expand with temperature fluctuations and often cracks or peels, making maintenance more difficult and expensive. Preservatives (usually oil-based) penetrate the wood and although they usually do not form hard protective coating, they nourish the wood and maintenance is often much more easy and cost effective than with varnish.
As a general rule, preservatives should not be layered over varnishes and vice versa, but with proper preparation (often stripping the wood), there are exceptions. In the next article I will go into more detail about dealing with problematic physicists wooden surfaces.
A good quality wood impregnation varnish is preferable. There are exceptions, but from years of experience with all types of wood finishes, this is essentially what offers the best workable solution in most cases. however they exist few exceptions.
With wood stain there can be many factors to consider before deciding on a particular product. Therefore, it is advisable to do a thorough inspection and a thorough discussion with the experts and then to choose the most suitable product for the application.
